We trained 2 of our dogs with her and always use her for overnights stays. We know they will be clean, well cared for, obedient and loved. We did a board a train with one of our dogs and and he learned not only basic commands but she taught him recall working with and without an e collar. I could not recommend Mary Kay more highly. She is also very knowledgeable about food and diet and keeps up with her certifications and latest guidelines.Posted on Jacqueline MensingerNovember 2, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I highly recommend 101 Dog Trainer, Mary Kay (MK). From our first encounter, I felt confident I was in the best hands, for me and my pup. MK made sure she understood what my (many) goals were, and she provided a training program to achieve those goals, 100%, with additional enhancements. I learned so much about dog behavior and the reasoning behind various training techniques. If you want to work with the best of the best, 101 Dog Trainer is your go to. I get compliments from strangers every day when I'm out with my dog, "she's so calm", "she's so well behaved", "that's one happy dog", and on and on. I also highly recommend her board and train program. I had to travel several times for 7-10 days at a time, and MK sent videos of my dog's progress, daily. I would never have trusted my dog to someone else, but after working with MK in 1:1 lessons, it was an easy decision.Posted on DanOctober 31, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have known Mary Kay for many years. She recently completed a board and train for our new puppy. As expected she was returned a much better pup. This is the second dog Mary Kay has trained for us with the same positive results. I know there are other trainers out there but I know there are none better than 101 Dog Training!Posted on Noelia de Cabo-BernierApril 30, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mary Kay is the best. We adopted a female German Shepperd puppy, Willow, 3 years ago. While walking her (always on a leash) we had two quite unfiendly encounters with dogs: one dog was on a leash and the other one wasn't. She was about 7 months old when this happened. She became reactive to other dogs, cars and even people that approached us and just plain afraid of anything coming towards us in our walks. Our vet recommended Mary Kay. She taught US how to handle her and how to walk her properly. A few months later, we started to see little changes. Then, we had a set back: se was attacked by an off leash dog . She luckily wasn't bitten but it took her a bit to get over it. She continued making progress, little by little. Now, most of the time, Willow does not react to people or dogs that are on the other side of the street or trucks coming towards us when we walk her. Our walks are a joy again. She is not perfect, but she has come a long way and we owe it all to Mary Kay. We also leave Willow with Mary Kay when we travel. We trust none else.Posted on Tiffany NelsonOctober 15, 2023Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. For a lack of better words, Mary Kay is amazing! She not only has years of knowledge but she continues to keep in her researches. That combined with her experience is unmatched. She is patient and makes herself available for any questions/advice. She also has great energy with animals, it's actually cool to watch. She helped me get my Skye (a rescue) set up to be my service dog. I have multiple sclerosis and needed a dog that could help me with certain things mainly support and balance. She makes sure you and the dog learn safe and very effective commands and behaviors. The reality is the dog know it's us as the humans that need a lot of the training. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend!Posted on Wendy RobinsonOctober 1, 2023Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mary Kay at 101 Dog Trainer was highly recommended to me from a good friend. Our 10 month old Goldendoodle, Stanley, had been a challenge to train and neither one of us had the tools to help him. Mary Kay had him for three weeks and it’s unbelievable what she did in such a short amount of time. I’m still not convinced that we got the same dog back because he is so well behaved. 😊 We don’t live near Oceanside, but Mary Kay has stayed in constant contact with us and is always so willing to answer the many questions I have. She asks for videos so she can help us with training and keep Stanley moving in the right direction. I have had three different people compliment how well behaved he is while we are out on our walks. That definitely never would have happened prior to Mary Kay. Our house is so much more peaceful now and I can’t thank her enough for her help.Posted on Stuart EbersteinMarch 22, 2023Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We chose 101 Dog Trainer, Mary Kay to help us improve our skills for walking our dog, Ace, and improving his reactivity to the neighbor's dog along the fence. During our sessions, we discussed and worked on our leash handling skills, to help us avoid different situations when we walk Ace on the street or on trails. Also, Mary Kay provided ideas to help reduce Ace's reactivity to the neighbor's dog. Completely happy with the results, and everything Mary Kay recommended has worked. Mary Kay was always available, and wanted to see videos of our practice to make sure the right steps from our training sessions were being followed. My wife and I are more confident in walking Ace, and managing Ace thru any situation that could occur on our walks. I would highly recommend 101 Dog Trainer for your dog training needs. Mary Kay can help you overcome any issues you are experiencing with your dog, providing you the tools for you to have success with your dog.Posted on Lillian GoodmanOctober 27, 2022Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mary Kay is hands down the best dog trainer I’ve worked with. She is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, kind but firm (with the dogs and their people). My partner and I have a rescue Australian Shepherd named Koda who was not socialized, fearful and completely untrained when we adopted him at 3 years old. Within weeks he was leash trained, housebroken, crate trained, had learned excellent stay and recall which we have continued with her e-collar training for off leash. Koda is a high energy working dog who needs to be doing something all the time and Mary Kay is always helping us with new skills and games to play with him to keep him mentally and physically engaged. He is also a really bossy and protective Aussie and still is struggles with some leash reactivity and nipping but were consistently working on it and with Mary Kay’s coaching and support we’ve basically gone from having a wild hyena on a leash, who no one could come near, to a pretty awesome Aussie walking in heel and able to interact with our young nieces and nephews. By sticking with Mary Kay’s training over the last 4 years we’ve been able to give our dog the good life that he deserves and gotten the happy, engaged & well behaved dog we were hoping for. I couldn’t recommend Mary Kay enough- her services are money and time VERY well spent for you and your dog.Posted on Cathy BerryOctober 26, 2022Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mary Kay was a referral from a friend who had used her for her puppy. We have a Rottweiler that is a very good dog but needed some leash training and socialization skills. Our Rottweiler was 7 when Mary Kay worked with her. She's a fantastic trainer and very knowledgable in nutrition etc.Posted on Heidi KoehlerOctober 19, 2022Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Over 3 years ago we rescued a 1 yr old Siberian Husky that had serious separation anxiety. I was so happy that I was recommended to 101 Dog Trainer and Mary Kay! With her expertise in training dogs in all areas she expertly guided me and my dog and taught me to teach her how to handle the anxiety and all other behaviors that come with wanting a well behaved dog. Huskies are prey driven therefore are runners, with the ecollar training I can now take my Husky off leash and have perfect recall. I highly recommend Mary Kay for EVERY dog owner. It has been 3 1/2 years now and my dog is still unbelievably well behaved only due to the fact that I have continued to train my dog the way Mary Kay taught me! Mary Kay's program gave me peace of mind.
